Adult Servers provide service on the altar
for funeral Masses. This is especially suitable
for retirees who are available during the usual
workdays. No meetings are held.
Altar Servers Committee
Trains new grade school altar servers,
encourages proper style and conduct, and
makes reminder phone calls to the grade
school servers. The members usually meet in
February to plan training meetings. Actual
training with the servers are 1 to 2 meetings.
Each member rotates making weekly reminder
calls to the servers for the week.
Carmelites
An association of lay persons who live according
to the spirit of the Order of Discalced Carmelites,
but who do not leave their secular state of
life. All those who feel called to live the
spirituality of Carmel are most welcome. The
Carmelite vocation is to live in the world
“an evangelical life of fraternal communion
imbued with the spirit of contemplative prayer
and apostolic zeal according to the example
and teaching of the Carmelite saints”, especially
Saints Teresa of Avila, John of the Cross, and
Therese of Lisieux. The members meet on the
first Sunday of each month following the
9:30 a.m. Mass in the O'Shea Center.
Chidren's Choir
Provides a music ministry for Parish children
by performing sacred music and leading congregational
singing during selected Sunday liturguies.
Rehearsals are held weekly in the Choir Chapel.
Children's Liturgy Committee
Provides both opportunity and atmosphere for
our young children, pre-school through grade
5, to grow and become rooted in the Sacred
Liturgy of the Catholic Christian tradition.
Contemporary Ensemble
The Contemporary Music Ensemble provides music
for the liturgy on the first Sunday of the month
at 11:30AM and the third Saturday of the month
at 5:00PM. All ages are invited to join in
singing, or playing contemporary liturgical
music. All singers and anyone playing guitar,
drums or keyboard is encouraged to become
involved in this ministry.
Family Life Committee
Sponsors social and service projects and
activities involving families such as the
Square Dance Party and Family Pizza Night.
The members foster family values and morals
that are inherent in the Catholic faith.
This group meets the first week of each
month.
Food Pantry
Assist unemployed and low- income families in
the South Hills by distributing free food to
them. The only requirement is need. The
Pantry is operated by a volunteer staff. It
is located on the first floor of the O'Shea
Center and is open Wednesdays and Saturdays
from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
Lectors
Provide articulate and effective communication
of the Word of God, prayers of the faithful,
and announcements at Sunday and holy day Masses,
and other appropriate liturgical services.
There are no organized meetings. Attendance
at appropriate seminars and days of recollection
is encouraged.
Men's/Usher's Club
Offers men a variety of opportunities to serve
the parish and to participate in the social
functions for the members. The primary activity
of the Club is to provide ushers for Masses
and services in Church. The men meet in the
O'Shea Center the second Wednesday of the
month at 8:00 p.m.
Peace Garden
Volunteers who help in the maintenance and
landscaping of the Garden located between
the parish house and the Church.
Prayer Group
Praises and thanks God in song, prayer and
reflections of His word. The Prayer Group
meets every Friday morning from 9:30 to 11:00
a.m. in the O'Shea Center
Religious Education Teachers and Aides
Bring, through catechesis, the message of
Jesus Christ and His Church to all members
of the community, from very young children
to the elderly. It is our aim to help individuals
acquire and develop their own Catholic Christian
faith so that our parish community may truly
be a witness to the good news of our Lord,
Jesus.
Respect Life Committee
Promotes a consistent ethic that respects all
of human life from conception through natural
death. This goal is achieved through education,
service and advocacy. The committee meets the
first Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in
the O'Shea Center September through May.
Ressurection Choir
Leads congregational singing as well as supports
the aesthetic dimension of worship through the
performance of sacred music at funeral Masses.
There is no rehearsal time.
Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA)
The program of our Catholic Church community
to introduce new members into the Church. It
begins in the latter weeks of October and
concludes in Holy Week at the Easter Vigil.
A team of volunteer religious education teachers,
our Deacon and Pastor lead the weekly meetings
of the candidates. No commitment to become
Roman Catholic is required of those enrolled.
Rather, each person is encouraged to seek the
truth of Jesus Christ and His church with an
open mind and heart.
Society of St. Vincent de Paul
Seeks out the poor and deprived who are in
need of spiritual, financial, and/or emotional
support. A personal visit is made to each
needy individual or family and help is provided
whenever possible. Follow-up contact is maintained.
The Society meets weekly in the Parish House.
Youth Ministry
Both Junior High and High School groups offer
opportunities for the youth of our parish to
grow in their faith. Please see the Youth

Women's Guild
Provides a social and service group for the
women of the parish through religious, educational,
cultural, fund-raising and social activities,
consistent with the spirit of Catholic action.
The women meet bi-monthly on the second Tuesday
of the month (September, November, December,
March, April, May) at 8:00 p.m. in Benedict
Hall.
