Story of Saint Philomena

                                                        Her principal Feast Day is August 11

 

                      The shelf tomb of St. Philomena, excavated on May 25 1802, bearing an 
                                     inscription identified as Pax tecum, Filumena,
                                               Peace be with you Philomena.
                    
On three tiles which marked the tomb were also inscribed symbols of virginity
                                        and martyrdom, a lily, arrows, an anchor and a lance.
