Saint Philomena was a virgin martyr, whose bones
were discovered in
the
catacombs in 1802.
Nothing is recorded or definitely known of her life, except what has
been
learned from her final resting place.
Her canonisation was based on miracles wrought after the excavation of
her relics, at her intercession.
As far as we are aware, she is the only canonised saint who was so elevated
without access to any records of her life, as per the usual cononisation process
